Simplicity is king
All too frequently we reward those who offer us the most complex solutions. Simple solutions are quickly implemented. They don't require significant changes to a budget. They have an immediate impact. Frequently we are absorbed by experts who tell us they have the solution to a problem. Before we ever see them, we are provided with a PDF file that is hundreds of pages long. They have a solution in place, which is not going to give results within the next two or three years. Anybody working in an organization right now, from nonprofits to manufacturing, understands most leaders do not have that kind of time period to show improvement on the bottom line. We become fixated on complex solutions, which require an amount of time for success few executives enjoy. In the post pandemic world, simple solutions that are quickly implemented to rapidly deliver results are king. Simplicity is an art, and it is time for us to properly reward the artist.
