No problem exists without a solution.

No company can survive without a healthy cash flow.  The same thing is true with people.  Chronic turnover, and attrition, will drain your best talent from your workforce.  TERRA staffing group put the average cost of replacing an employee, who makes $36,000 a year, at $12,000 for the company.  Replacing a mid-level manager, making $60,000 per year, costs the company $20,000.  A talent exodus hurts your cash flow as it drains morale.  The adjectives “overworked” and “burnout” are increasingly used to describe an employees motivation for leaving a company.  While it very well could be the final undesirable effect that pushes an employee to seek a position elsewhere, the fact remains we are not asking the right questions.

A report in December 2022, said the number of people working or looking for a job had declined by 186,000 in one month.  Millions of baby boomers are retiring every year.  The labor force is shrinking.  Fewer workers to choose from incentivizes organizations to offer increasingly lucrative wages to attract talent.  This approach has been used for decades to attract top talent from MBA programs and law schools.  It has never been the reason people stay with an organization when they get there.  One core problem fixed can solve your staffing crisis, in less than a year.  Your labor market is getting smaller, and you cannot ride out the storm.

No hospital has to accept a chronic shortfall of nurses.

We do not have to let cities toil with millions upon millions of square feet of empty office buildings.

Our perspectives have to change. No problem exists without a solution.
